Going beyond three empires.

Three empires means no two empires can ever do a 'permanent' alliance. While diplomacy between them all would be interesting, most often it just wouldn't work the way we would want it to.

I think 3 empires are just fine for now.

Odd numbers of empires is the key here... you wouldn't add a 4th empire... you'd add a 4th AND a 5th.

The problem is, when you add new teams to an existing game, everyone wants to play the new teams... and that decimates existing populations of other empires.

5 empires would be nice, but you are beginning to get the picutre in these forums about just how much work even 3 empires will be for art, balance, gameplay, etc.

We'll just save that for the sequal :)
