I think for the first developement cycles air and vehicles might as well be left out as full focus should be brought to bear on the initial revisions of the basic weapons, animations and terra-forming. Once all the inital weapons and character animations are done, and we have some terrain to fight over, then and only then should vehicles and then air be added.

Cog has already stated that the Alpha would feature only one vehicle, which he calls a Hover Cycle, in the Alpha version of the game, so that's already settled...

I do not recall where though... either way, I believe the vehicle is only in there to test vehicle code, as opposed to balance/etc...

Infantry are the main part of the game, so everything that builds on them will be balanced against them.

Edit: Subjugate verbs? What? Who?

True, but I believe the bike isn't really being considered in terms of balance (doesn't have any weapons, as far as I know, just a rapid transport type of thing). Who knows if it'd even be in game?

For testing and "Just get shit working" stages I would agree... anything beyond that and you have an issue. Without a clean cross-section of strategic elements in the game ASAP you leave yourself open to poor balance decisions that might take considerable effort to rectify once those elements are included. Structures and environs will suffer as well without being able to have at least some idea of what needs changing with the advent of air vehicles.

The Milestone 1 Alpha is not intended to be any kind of balance pass.

It's more along the lines of "Is it all working?".

Milestone 2 will see the introduction of more vehicle types and the first (of I'm sure many) balance pass.
