Two types of UAV's.

Backpack UAV deployable. Player with appropriate command rank can deploy a small UAV on ground. In 1 minute it turns into a slightly transparent little drone which can be flown by the player like a little helecopter. Good for scanning an enemy base to see what the enemy is up too. Has 1 point of armor. Fart in this things direction and it blows up.

Command and control vehicle. Players with appropriate command rank can see on map enemy deployments from a high flying deployed UAV. It can be intercepted and desroyed by an interceptor fighter but it is small and slightly transparent. Tough to hit.

As for UAV's/revealing areas of the map I was thinking of something much simpler. For the sake of brevity, a commander would just designate a position he wanted scouted on his map, and in about a minute it would be revealed. No actual flying geometry, but perhaps an icon on the commander's map that shows that area is being revealed. If you want a real world explanation, the Predator UAV can fly up to 25,000 ft, too far above the "battlefield" to be engaged by any normal weaponry.

I was thinking all command ranks would have access to this tool save for the first rank, but the duration and area revealed (read: usefulness) increases as rank goes up.
