Not sure if this has already been posted or not but....how are we going to deal with soldiers taking damage? Just losing health, or, bleeding, taking damage in certain areas, etc?

I'm thinking something like a BFR almost when it comes to damage:

Soldiers can be damaged in:

The arm = making their accuracy, reload speed, etc, worse.
The leg = slower running/walking, limping a little causing a bigger COF penalty when moving, mebbe sometimes falling.
The stomach/ribs area = takes away 'stamina', causes penalty to everything, knocks out any 'implants' if there are any.
The wrist = causes hand to sometimes shake, messes up reloading time/accuracy, sometimes drop clips when reloading?
The foot = almost same as leg.
The hand = almost same as arm/wrist...oh oh oh shoot off their pointer finger, no trigger-pulling for you! :)
The head = damages sight, things become blurry, vision sometimes shakes, penalty to movement speed, takes increased damage from being shot here, knocks out any 'implants' if there are any.

Maybe only works for snipers, relaly well-placed bullets, a certain ammo type, a certain weapon type, etc. And I'm thinking if they have aromr there, you have to shoot that area until there is either a hole in the armor, or it's knocked off?

Si or no?

If this has already been posted could someone post a link to that post

Would be pretty sweet if this is possible to implement. Some interesting tactics could be done if you were out numbered or low on ammo and other stuff.

I think we've largely opted out of doing a system like that, as the sheer amout of hit boxes would kill framerates like nothing else... If you think the BFRs are problematic in that respect now, consider what it would be like if 233 or whatever infantry units in the same server had even more hit boxes than a BFR a piece.

With that being said, I believe they were throwing around an idea regarding marking off percentages of a toon and having damage in those areas have an appropriate effect/remedy.

But lots of hit boxes are looking like a big no-no...

Correct, no hitbox-style damage system.

We're going to copy the PS model 100% in regards to health/armor damage... some weapons will penetrate armor better than others.

Empire specific weapons will have behaviors consistant with their dominant projectile type (ES being the worst armor penetration, VT in the middle and TR being the best).

Furthermore, different classes of weapons will do more armor penetration as well (Rifles will do more than pistols, cannons will do more than rifles, etc).

We have at this point made no effort towards implementing an "AP" ammo system. While it does give infantry a little kick in some engagements, IMHO (unless you can convince me otherwise) that overall it has a minimal impact on the game as a whole and its one of those unnecessary items. We will, however, utilize the weapon matrix concept, where each weapon will damage each game item in a unique way based on the percieved composition of that object and the type of projectile striking it.

Agreed. If we were to have to use hitboxes for this concept, we'd have to cut down the number of points a lot - feet up to torso would have to be connected, arms and chest connected maybe, some of head and some of stomach, etc.
