posted this over in the vehicles section, but its concept art too.

I had an idea for an ai turret, something along the lines of the DREAD (http://www.military.com/soldiertech/0,14632,Soldiertech_DREAD,,00.html) weapons system. Frictionless, no recoil, and no muzzle flash. If we're going for empire specific everything, this could be one empire's "harasser" turret.

and a little test render (http://www.clipshack.com/ClipView.aspx?id=zGygWc-mlxZKzo2LKiqJoQ**)

As I mentioned before, I definitely like the look of this one. It has a very deceptive look to it, like it's not all that dangerous, but could rip someone apart in seconds.

Hahah Using the DREAD system, which I was just commenting on to a buddy (in reference to the design, then I saw the DREAD link)

But, unfortunately to get the rate of velocity using centrifugal force, the outside would need to spin at about mach 2, breaking the weapon apart. Luckily, this is a fictional game and aren't held back by that sort of thing. I love it.

Just as a note Raborn, there is a physical weapon now that works this way. Clicky the DREAD link in the first post.

I know, but it's gotta be a hoax. We figured it up. It's just not possible with the materials we're given today.

There's a promotional video (http://defensereview.com/dad/dread.mov) of it up on Defense Review. Near the end they show some suspiciously short footage of their prototype firing off a few bursts.
